Vice President of Hezbollah’s Political Council, Mahmoud Qamati, confirmed the party’s adherence to its weapons, considering that all attempts to remove them have failed, and stressing that any violation of the existing understandings will be met with a response.

In an interview on Al-Manar TV, Qamati said: “Any violation will be responded to,” adding: “I tell people to be patient.”

In response to calls to hand over weapons, Qamati stressed that “it is impossible for us to hand over weapons,” considering that “Israel and America have failed to disarm.”

He added that “Hezbollah’s weapons will remain to protect the homeland, between the army, the state and the resistance,” stressing that the party will continue its current approach, saying: “If they want, they are welcome, and if they do not want, we will continue the path.”

Qamati’s statements come at a very sensitive stage, in which international pressures and ongoing negotiations intersect with the escalation of internal debate about the future of Hezbollah’s weapons and its role in the Lebanese equation, coinciding with the continuation of Israeli attacks on Lebanon and increasing calls to redraw the security and political landscape in the post-war period.

Hezbollah’s weapons file is considered one of the most controversial issues on the Lebanese scene, as it is constantly at the forefront of local and international political discussions, especially in light of the rapid regional changes and the efforts made to reach new security and political arrangements in the region.

In this context, Qamati’s positions reflect the party’s adherence to the “army, people and resistance” equation, which has always formed the basis of its approach to the defense file, in contrast to the increasing voices demanding that weapons be restricted to the hands of the Lebanese state, which keeps this file at the heart of political tension during the next stage.
