In a remarkable development on the ground inside southern Lebanon, 5 Israeli soldiers were injured today, Wednesday, as a result of two bomb-laden drone attacks, one during the work of a force from Givati, and the second during the arrival of the evacuation force, in a scene that reflects the continuation of operational tension despite talk of a US-Iranian agreement that is taking shape.

According to a report by journalist Nitzan Shapira in “N12”, 5 Israeli fighters were injured on Wednesday morning by two bomb-laden drones in southern Lebanon, one of whom was in serious condition, 2 in moderate condition, and 2 in minor condition.

According to the report, the first drone exploded near a tank belonging to the forces of the Givati Brigade Combat Team, which operates in southern Lebanon under the command of the 36th Division, wounding 4 soldiers.

The report indicated that Hezbollah members waited for the evacuation force, and minutes later an additional explosive drone was launched towards the forces who were called to treat the wounded and evacuate them, which led to the injury of another soldier in the second incident.

Israeli Air Force helicopters transported all the wounded to hospitals, while their families were notified. In response to both incidents, Israeli army forces bombarded military infrastructure in the area with artillery fire.

Despite the agreement that is taking shape between the United States and Iran, the report indicates that the Israeli army forces operating within the “yellow line” within Lebanese territory continue, so far, their operational activity in a completely normal manner.

According to the report, soldiers continue to destroy military structures, while operational instructions remain the same: in the event of contact with armed elements, the order is to open fire with the aim of eliminating them.

The difference between reports of an agreement and the absence of updated instructions creates a state of uncertainty for the forces. Leaders and soldiers, who have achieved great field achievements according to the report, are now wondering where things are headed, and how these achievements will be translated the next day.

The atmosphere among the soldiers reflects widespread skepticism toward political statements. The report quoted one of the soldiers working on the front as saying: “We have not lowered the alert level. We are still acting as if the threat is in front of us, just as it was before. We are skeptical and waiting to see what will happen.”

Between the field and politics, this incident reveals that southern Lebanon is still an area open to escalation, and that any regional agreement does not turn into an actual reality before it is translated into clear orders on the ground.
