The Israeli army announced the killing of Ali Musa Daqduq, one of Hezbollah’s most prominent leaders and the former official responsible for the “Golan file,” in a raid carried out south of the Litani River last weekend.

The Israeli army spokeswoman, Ella Wawiyeh, said in a post on the “X” platform that the army targeted Daqduq during a raid carried out on Friday in southern Lebanon, noting that he is considered one of the prominent leaders in Hezbollah.

According to the Israeli army, Daqduq held a series of positions within the party, including the commander of the protection team for former Secretary-General of Hezbollah Hassan Nasrallah, a commander in the “Radwan Force” unit, and a commander in the operations department in the “Nasr” unit, in addition to assuming responsibility for the infantry unit.

Daqduq also took charge of the “Golan file,” an operational branch that the Israeli army said was responsible for stationing the party in Syria and establishing military infrastructure near the border with Israel, noting that he revealed this unit in 2019.

The Israeli army added that Daqduq was a “major knowledge center” and had extensive operational experience, and in recent years he led most of the combat readiness measures against the Israeli forces.

He pointed out that Daqduq was imprisoned by US forces in 2007 after he was accused of leading an operation that resulted in the kidnapping and execution of five American soldiers.

The Israeli army considered that the killing of Daqduq constituted “an important liquidation of another senior leader in Hezbollah,” stressing that it would continue to target the party’s leaders.
