US President Donald Trump said that policymakers at the Federal Reserve would be wrong if they took a decision to raise interest rates after the release of a very strong report on jobs in the United States, stressing at the same time that he does not want to influence Federal Reserve Chairman Kevin Warsh before he chairs his first meeting at the central bank.

Trump explained, in an interview with the American channel “NBC” broadcast on Sunday, saying: “Right now, when there are good reports, the market goes down because they think they will raise interest rates,” according to Bloomberg News, and Trump added: “There is no reason to raise interest rates.”

His statements came at a time when the US jobs report, issued yesterday, Friday, recorded employment growth during the month of May that exceeded all expectations, which led to a wave of selling of US Treasury bonds, and prompted traders to fully price according to the possibility of raising the Federal Reserve’s base interest rate by a quarter of a percentage point by the end of the current year.
