NVIDIA President Jensen Huang announced that the company intends to increase its investments in Taiwan to reach about $150 billion annually, noting that the island is a major “center” for the artificial intelligence revolution, and is expected to remain a global hub for the technology industry for many years.
Huang explained that four to five years ago, NVIDIA was spending between $10 and $15 billion annually in Taiwan, while spending has now risen to about $100 billion, and will reach $150 billion annually in the future.
His statements came during an event in Taipei on the occasion of the launch of the company’s new headquarters in Taiwan, the foundation stone of which is scheduled to be laid this year and to begin operating in 2030.
Huang pointed out that Taiwan is witnessing a “real boom” in the artificial intelligence sector, explaining that it is a center for manufacturing chips, packaging and advanced computer systems, and stressing the presence of a wide network of partners on the island.
