In light of the violent Israeli raids that targeted Nabatieh and Al-Duwair, civil defense teams continued field search and rescue operations, and were able to evacuate dozens of civilians trapped inside the damaged buildings, despite the seriousness of the field conditions and the large scale of destruction.
The General Directorate of Civil Defense announced, in a statement, that search and rescue teams succeeded in rescuing and evacuating 29 citizens from the targeted sites in Al-Duwair and Nabatieh, after raids trapped them inside the damaged buildings.
The statement explained that operations in the town of Al-Duwair resulted in the rescue of two children and 12 citizens, while in the city of Nabatieh, 15 citizens were evacuated, as officers worked “quickly and efficiently to secure the safety of civilians and transport them to safe places.”
The Directorate confirmed that its teams are still continuing to carry out search and field response operations in the targeted locations, despite the continuing risks resulting from the raids and the extensive damage they caused.
These operations come in light of an unprecedented Israeli escalation in the southern regions, where the towns of Nabatieh and its surroundings are subjected to intense raids and continuous overflights of military and drone aircraft, which led to widespread waves of displacement and the fall of a number of martyrs and wounded.
Civil defense personnel and ambulance teams face great challenges in reaching the targeted sites, especially with the continued bombing and the danger of the collapse of damaged buildings, at a time when warnings are increasing about the deteriorating humanitarian situation in the southern regions.
