Two representatives from the “Loyalty to the Resistance” bloc rejected what they described as “American interference” in Lebanese affairs, stressing that Iran “does not negotiate on behalf of Lebanon,” while holding the Lebanese authority responsible for submitting to foreign dictates.
Representative Hussein Al-Haj Hassan said that Iran is “clear in its approach to negotiations,” and requires concluding any agreement with “a complete and complete ceasefire in Lebanon, without freedom of movement for Israel,” considering that Tehran “adopts the Lebanese demands of a ceasefire, Israel’s withdrawal to the international border, the return of displaced persons and prisoners, and reconstruction.”
Hajj Hassan added, “Iran does not negotiate on our behalf, but it adopts our demands and supports us,” especially with regard to the ceasefire and rejection of “freedom of movement for Israel,” noting that the Iranian negotiator “takes into account what the American side proposes, but adheres to a ceasefire without concessions that affect sovereignty.”
He affirmed his absolute rejection of direct negotiations with Israel, considering that “the Israelis take recognition and legitimacy from direct negotiations,” warning that “the authority has fallen into the trap of direct negotiations.”
He also considered that the American proposals in the security sessions “go beyond the technical framework,” accusing Washington of seeking to “form a brigade in the Lebanese army that it chooses to lead and arm to confront the resistance.”
He said that the Lebanese army “rejects these proposals,” while “the authority did not say a word,” speaking about demands to form a “tripartite Lebanese-Israeli-American security committee,” in addition to talk of a “declaration of intent” withdrawn by Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu.
Hajj Hassan believed that the United States is “biased with Israel in all negotiation tracks, security and political,” considering that “the authority is suffering from a real crisis because it cannot say no to the Americans.”
In the same context, Representative Ali Ammar said, “The United States daily exercises its political guardianship over Lebanon through its blatant interference in its internal affairs,” considering that this interference “would not have occurred had the Lebanese authority not opened the doors to external dictates.”
Ammar criticized the statements of US Secretary of State Marco Rubio, describing them as “full of sedition, incitement and lies,” considering that the US administration “only wants Israel’s security, and is exerting pressure on Lebanon to implement its projects.”
Ammar concluded by calling for “unity of the national position in the face of external pressures,” calling on the American administration to “stop interfering in Lebanese affairs and tampering with its stability.”
