The state of alert continued in northern Israel during the Eid holiday, after the Galilee settlements witnessed a continuous series of sirens following the launch of booby-trapped drones from southern Lebanon, a number of which fell and exploded inside Israeli territory near the border.
According to a report by journalist Ron Creasy in the Yedioth Ahronoth newspaper, thousands of Israelis were spending the Eid holiday in nature and with their families, while the settlements in the north continued to face daily threats related to the launching of missiles and drones, especially Hezbollah suicide drones.
The report indicated that after the sirens sounded last night in Kiryat Shmona, the alarms returned to sound in the morning and at noon in a number of towns in the Western Galilee.
At 17:07, sirens sounded in the Margaliot settlement in the Galilee Finger near Kiryat Shmona, due to suspected drone infiltration.
Only one minute later, additional sirens sounded in the area for fear of launching missiles or missiles, amid Israeli estimates that the matter may have been caused by the launching of interceptor missiles towards the drone.
Meanwhile, similar sirens were heard in the Misgav Am settlement, before being repeated again minutes later in Margaliot, and then again in Misgav Am about 10 minutes later.
After the warning wave ended, it became clear, according to the report, that a number of bomb-laden drones had actually exploded near the border inside Israeli territory.
In its official statement, the Israeli army described the drones as “suspicious air targets,” announcing that the Air Force intercepted two air targets launched from Lebanon towards Israel.
The Israeli army added: “In addition, a number of suspicious air targets were detected in the border area with Lebanon, and the details are under examination. Alarm sirens were activated in accordance with the approved policy.”
This escalation reflects the continued challenge posed by the offensive marches on the northern front, at a time when the northern Israeli settlements appear to be immersed in a state of daily security exhaustion, despite all the Israeli army’s attempts to develop new means of interception and protection on the border with Lebanon.
