Flick, whose current contract expires in June 2027, is scheduled to sign a one-year renewal with the option to extend his tenure.

Barcelona’s tally rose to 91 points at the top of La Liga, a tally that no other club can achieve with three matches remaining, and it won the title by defeating its eternal rival, Real Madrid, in the El Clásico match that was held last Sunday.

Flick, whose father died on Sunday before Barcelona and Real Madrid faced off, told reporters, “I’ll tell you, I’m sorry – I had other things to do in the past few days.”

He added, “I am very happy with this (contract extension), of course. They gave me and my team the confidence to work for an additional year or two. This is what it looks like to me.”

He continued, “I think a lot of coaches would be happy if they got a three-, four-, or five-year contract, but in Barcelona’s case it’s good for the contract to be limited. I really appreciate that a lot.”

He added, “We will continue until 2028, and then we will see if everything is fine, and if so, we can decide to extend it for another year. The club has the right to that, and I have the right to that. I think it is a good deal.” (Russia Today)
