The Generator Sector Regulatory Committee in Sidon Municipality issued a tariff for the month of April, setting the price of a kilowatt-hour at 49,395 Lebanese pounds for a supply of no less than 12 hours, and rising to 60,000 pounds if the supply exceeds 17 hours per day, based on an exchange rate of 89,500 pounds to the dollar. As for the fixed subscription, it was set at 385,000 liras for a capacity of 5 amps, and 685,000 liras for a capacity of 10 amps, with the addition of 300,000 liras for each additional 5 amps, with an emphasis on calculating the fixed portion for elevators based on the capacity of one phase only.

The committee stressed the necessity of installing meters and issuing detailed invoices and schedules of feeding hours, preventing generator owners from stopping service without giving a prior written deadline of 3 months. An agreement was also made with the Public Prosecution of Appeal in the south to receive citizens’ complaints through police stations and take legal measures against violators.

For its part, the Ministry of Energy warned against including any illegal additions to the pricing, such as unregistered value-added tax, maintenance fees, or imposing additional amounts on solar energy users, calling on the Ministry of Economy and the Judiciary to tighten oversight and prosecution.
