Adnan Belhareth, coach of the handball team at the Tunisian Club Africain, officially announced his resignation from his position today, Monday. This resignation comes less than 48 hours after the team was defeated by Etoile du Sahel with a score of (29-28) in the match that brought them together in the eighth round of the Premier League competitions.
With this loss, Club Africain, which was last crowned in the 2020-2021 season, has greatly reduced its hopes of winning the first division handball league title. The team was defeated at home and in front of its fans last Saturday against Al-Etoile by a single goal, in the eighth round of the title-winning stage. This stage takes place in 10 rounds, in which 6 clubs compete.
Although Club Africain started the coronation stage with 6 points as incentives, while its most prominent competitor for the title, Esperance, started with 4 points, the red and white team was unable to exploit this progress. The team lost two decisive matches in its journey towards competing for the title, the first was against Esperance with a score of (26-23) and the second against Etoile du Sahel with a score of (29-28).
