Italian Foreign Minister Antonio Tajani announced on Monday Italy’s strong condemnation of the military attacks launched by Hezbollah on Israel, noting that these actions hinder the achievement of stability in southern Lebanon.
In statements he made after his meeting with President Joseph Aoun at Baabda Palace, Tajani stressed his country’s keenness to support the Lebanese people and the displaced, noting that Italy has already provided great support and intends to continue this support soon in cooperation with the Food and Agriculture Organization (FAO).
The Italian Minister also affirmed his country’s full confidence in the “Lebanese Armed Forces,” stressing the importance of the role played by the “Lebanese Army” in maintaining the unity and stability of the country.
These statements come in the context of ongoing international efforts to support Lebanon in the face of field escalation and increasing humanitarian pressures, especially with the increase in the number of displaced people and the deterioration of economic conditions.
Italy plays an important role in the framework of European efforts to support Lebanon, whether through providing humanitarian aid or through its participation in the UNIFIL forces deployed in the south of the country.
