UNIFIL: We continue our mission "Firmly and impartially" Despite the escalation of clashes

The United Nations Interim Force in Lebanon (UNIFIL) issued a statement expressing its gratitude “for the strong support of troop-contributing countries to UNIFIL,” and stressed the “duty of all parties to ensure the safety and security of peacekeepers.”

The international force announced that it will continue to perform the tasks assigned to it “steadfastly and impartially,” relying on the support of the international community, in light of the continued increase in field operations in southern Lebanon.

UNIFIL explained that it is fully committed to carrying out its responsibilities, which includes supporting humanitarian access to civilians who remain in their areas, “as much as possible,” in addition to submitting objective, fact-based reports on the situation on the ground to the Security Council.

UNIFIL stressed that peacekeepers carry out their duties “courageously and professionally,” noting that its members are still present in all their locations in southern Lebanon and along the Blue Line, despite the escalation of violence by both Hezbollah and the Israeli army near their areas of deployment.
