An Israeli security official warned, in statements broadcast on Channel 14, that the Lebanese state would become a direct military target if it did not move to confront Hezbollah.
The official confirmed that Israel will begin targeting the Lebanese state if the latter does not take countermeasures against Hezbollah.
He also pointed out that the liquidation of Naim Qassem had become “a matter of time,” which was also reported by the Israeli Channel 14.
This warning comes in light of a sharper Israeli tone, as Israeli Defense Minister Yisrael Katz stated that Israel’s goal in Lebanon is to disarm Hezbollah, stressing that this goal is “not related to the Iranian file.”
Katz explained that the homes used by party members as military sites “will be destroyed according to the Rafah and Khan Yunis model,” referring to the method of military operations followed in the Gaza Strip.
He concluded by saying that the return of about 600,000 residents of southern Lebanon will not be achieved before “ensuring the security of northern Israel,” considering that the return of the residents is linked to achieving what he called comprehensive security guarantees.
