On the second day of a series of meetings held by the head of the Progressive Socialist Party, Representative Taymour Jumblatt, with the committees and bodies involved in the humanitarian response plan launched by the “Progressive” immediately after the outbreak of the war on the second of this March, Jumblatt expressed his opinion that the war will continue for a long time. He also pointed out that Lebanon’s future is not linked to Iran, which may reach a truce, but this “does not mean the end of the Israeli operation in Lebanon.”
He stressed the importance of supporting the state and its decisions, expressing his surprise at the attempts of some parties to attack the army and incite strife “as if they do not read history,” stressing that the present time is not appropriate to criticize the military institution.
Jumblatt added, “Even though we are in the year 2026, there are still those who think in a racist way,” stressing that the displaced person is a Lebanese citizen, and that those who were forced to leave their homes will return to their towns and villages as soon as the fighting stops, as happened in 2024.
At the conclusion of his speech, he stressed the need to preserve national unity, noting the continued communication and cooperation of the “Progressive” with various political parties, the army and security services, with the aim of ensuring that the arrivals are in real need of assistance and accommodation, in order to preserve their safety and the safety of the communities that host them.
