In a worrying development targeting health workers, an ambulance was subjected to an Israeli air strike in the town of Kafr Tibnit, located in southern Lebanon, resulting in injuries among medical staff members.
The Health Emergency Operations Center of the Ministry of Public Health issued a statement in which it explained that the attack targeted an ambulance belonging to the Civil Defense – Health Authority, resulting in the death of a paramedic and the wounding of four others with varying injuries.
The statement stressed that this attack represents an “additional war crime” added to the series of ongoing Israeli violations of international humanitarian law and the Geneva Conventions, calling on the international community to take immediate action to hold accountable and put an end to these violations.
This incident comes in the context of the escalation of Israeli military operations in southern Lebanon, where raids are repeated on many border villages, amid continuing clashes between the Israeli army and Hezbollah, which increases the dangers to which civilians and medical workers in conflict areas are exposed.
