Wahab: "Expelling the Iranian ambassador is a hasty move"...and criticism of the Foreign Ministry's decision

In light of the tense diplomatic atmosphere between Beirut and Tehran, the head of the Arab Tawhid Party, Wiam Wahhab, expressed his dissatisfaction with the decision to withdraw the accreditation of the nominated Iranian ambassador, describing it as a “hasty and uncalculated step.”

Through his account on the “X” platform, Wahhab commented, saying: “Expelling the Iranian ambassador is a hasty and uncalculated step. Trump is negotiating with Iran and Lebanon expels its ambassador. Inaccurate calculations and bidding that no one will buy.”

The Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Expatriates summoned the Iranian Chargé d’Affairs in Lebanon, Tawfiq Samadi Khoshkho, and the Secretary-General, Ambassador Abdul Sattar Issa, informed him of the Lebanese state’s decision to withdraw its approval to appoint Muhammad Reza Sheibani as Iranian ambassador, and to declare him persona non grata, while demanding that he leave Lebanese territory no later than Sunday, March 29, 2026.

The Ministry also decided to summon Lebanon’s ambassador to Iran, Ahmed Suwaidan, for consultations, against the backdrop of what it considered Tehran’s violation of diplomatic norms and rules of dealing between countries, which indicates escalating tension in relations between the two countries.
