The southern front witnessed a noticeable military escalation at dawn on Sunday, as Hezbollah announced that it had carried out a series of military operations targeting Israeli army sites and gatherings, coinciding with the outbreak of field clashes on the axis of the border town of Aitaroun.
The military media issued successive statements in which the party announced that its fighters had targeted, at 01:45 a.m. today, Sunday, March 8, 2026, the Pranit Barracks, which houses the headquarters of the 91st Division in the Israeli army, with a missile launcher.
The party also announced that it had targeted the city of Nahariya in northern occupied Palestine at 01:30 am with a missile launcher, as part of the warning it had previously directed to the city.
In field developments, the party stated that it monitored the movements of Israeli forces and vehicles that attempted to advance towards the town of Aitaroun from the direction of the forest at 22:30 on Saturday evening, which led to the outbreak of direct clashes between the two sides using machine guns and rocket-propelled grenades.
The statement confirmed that the party’s fighters repelled a new attempt by Israeli army soldiers towards the border town, indicating that the clash continued until the moment the statement was issued.
The party also announced that at 03:00 in the morning, it targeted a gathering of Israeli army soldiers at the Al-Malikiyah site opposite the town of Aitaroun with a guided missile, confirming that direct hits had been achieved.
He added that at 03:25 in the morning, a gathering of Israeli army vehicles was targeted at Al-Qaba Heights, on the southeastern outskirts of the town of Markaba, with a missile.
These operations come in the context of the escalation in the intensity of military operations on the Lebanese front, where the Israeli army has been launching a series of air strikes on multiple areas in southern Lebanon and the Bekaa, in addition to the southern suburbs of Beirut, in conjunction with the continuation of missile operations and clashes along the southern border.
