Microsoft has announced the addition of an integrated image editor to the PowerPoint presentation program, with the aim of simplifying the process of editing images directly, without the need to rely on external applications.
The company explained, through its official website, that images constitute an essential part of most presentations created using “PowerPoint,” but constantly moving between different applications to make modifications may negatively affect the workflow.
To overcome this problem, PowerPoint users on Windows and Mac systems, as well as the web version, can now modify images through a built-in editor that includes a variety of advanced tools.
The new editor allows for many quick modifications, such as removing backgrounds, getting rid of unwanted elements, improving the quality of images and increasing their accuracy, in addition to the ability to add texts and various effects.
To take advantage of this new feature, the user can select the image within the presentation, then click on the “Edit Image” option located in the “Picture Format” tab or through the shortcut menu. After that, a new window will open displaying the available editing tools, with the changes displayed immediately in the preview window, before approving them by clicking on the “Update” option.
Microsoft indicated that the new image editor can be useful in many practical cases, including modifying screenshots or images obtained from the Internet, removing distracting backgrounds before adding images to slides, adding text comments with visual effects, in addition to improving low-resolution images or scanned images.
The editor also allows you to automatically improve lighting and contrast to make images ready for display, remove inappropriate elements using the “Erase” tool, in addition to improving the clarity of images that appear blurry on large screens through the “Upscale” feature.
The new feature has gradually begun to arrive in the PowerPoint program in Windows version 2510, and in macOS version 16.104, in addition to the web version that works through the browser.
The company confirmed that the launch process is taking place gradually, which means that some users may need to wait a few days before the feature appears for them. (aitnews)
