The Free Patriotic Movement issued a statement declaring its support for the steps of the President of the Republic, General Joseph Aoun, and its support for the government’s decisions aimed at protecting Lebanon from a war in which it has no involvement, and the continuation of the state’s efforts to monopolize arms, based on its national principles supporting legitimacy.

The statement affirmed its absolute support for the Lebanese Army and its commander, noting that the military institution is the body most capable of implementing directives and decisions without compromising internal security, demanding that it be provided with the necessary capabilities and powers to enable it to do what it deems appropriate.

The movement also expressed its solidarity with the displaced people fleeing the war, stressing that it stands with them in their suffering that resulted from involvement in a conflict for which they do not bear responsibility.

Politically, the movement confirmed its support for Speaker of the House of Representatives, Nabih Berri, stressing its support for him in his efforts to contain developments at the political, military, security and popular levels.

The statement called on the government to take action at the international level to stop the Israeli attacks.

He pointed out that the head of the movement, Representative Gebran Bassil, made a series of contacts that included the Speaker of the House of Representatives, and he will issue a detailed position tomorrow after the Political Council meeting.
