Microsoft is launching new beta versions of the Windows 11 operating system that aim to improve security and performance when executing batch files or CMD scripts, by providing a more protected processing mode that prevents batch files from being modified while they are running.

The company stated that IT managers can activate this feature by adding the LockBatchFilesInUse registry value in the following path:
“HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINESoftwareMicrosoftCommand Processor”

In addition, policy makers can enable it via the LockBatchFilesWhenInUse control in the application control statement.

The “Windows Insider” team points out that this modification is in the interest of enhancing performance and security in institutional work environments, especially when “code integrity” is activated, as signature verification will only be required once instead of repeating it with every command executed within the batch file.

In these same beta releases, Microsoft also improved the audio sharing feature, which allows audio to be shared between two listening devices, by adding separate volume sliders for each user/device, in addition to a new indicator that appears in the taskbar during sharing sessions to provide a visual reminder and shortcut to settings.

The list of devices that support Bluetooth LE audio sharing has also been expanded to include: Samsung galaxy Buds 4, Buds 4 Pro, Sony WF-1000XM6, and Xbox Wireless Headset.

These updates are available to Windows Insider users in the Beta and Dev channels via the Preview builds:
“Windows 11 Preview Build 26220.7934 (KB5077242)” و”Windows 11 Preview Build 26300.7939 (KB5077243)”.
