The Israeli Defense Ministry’s office issued a statement in the early hours of Saturday morning that Israel had carried out a pre-emptive strike against Iran, stressing that the move was aimed at “removing threats” facing the country.
Defense Minister Yisrael Katz explained that Israel “has begun a pre-emptive attack on Iran,” adding that security assessments indicate the imminent possibility of Israel being attacked by missiles and drones.
Accordingly, Katz issued a decision to impose a special state of emergency throughout Israel, with intensive security measures.
The Ministry of Defense called on citizens to adhere to the directives of the Home Front Command and the competent authorities, and to remain in safe areas in preparation for any developments.
Sirens sounded in various parts of Israel this morning, as part of an unprecedented state of security alert, coinciding with the activation of the early warning system by sending warning messages directly to mobile phones.
Kan reported that Israeli airspace had been completely closed until further notice, without providing additional details about the duration or scope of the closure.
In a related context, reports from the Iranian capital, Tehran, reported that an explosion occurred in one of the squares in the center of the city, in addition to hearing the sounds of three explosions in different areas, while the Iranian authorities did not issue any official statement about the nature of the explosions or the extent of the damage resulting from them.
