US President Donald Trump explained that he has not yet decided on the way he will deal with Iran, expressing his dissatisfaction with the Iranian side’s “negotiating style.”
He reiterated that “Iran cannot possess nuclear weapons,” expressing at the same time his hope to “conclude an agreement with Iran,” but he did not hide his dissatisfaction with the way the negotiations are currently proceeding.
He pointed out that “more talks are expected to be held with Iran today, Friday,” stressing the continuation of diplomatic contacts despite the heightened tension.
Regarding the possibility of resorting to the military option, Trump stated: “I do not want to, but sometimes it is necessary,” a position that keeps the door open to all possibilities.
He also pointed out the possibility of a “change in the Iranian regime,” adding that “it may or may not happen,” in statements that express cautious anticipation for the future.
Politico newspaper had previously reported that Trump faces limited military options regarding Iran, after sending naval and land military reinforcements to the Caribbean.
On the other hand, Iran warned that any American attack on its territory would be met with an earthquake response targeting Israel and the American bases in the region.
Moscow also denounced what it described as blatant interference in Iranian internal affairs, stressing that threats issued by Washington to strike Iran are “completely unacceptable.”
