The Syrian Minister of the Interior, Anas Khattab, confirmed today, Tuesday, that the security forces continue to closely monitor ISIS activities that aim to destabilize the country, and stressed that the competent agencies will continue to raid the organization’s strongholds and pursue its remaining members throughout various parts of Syria.
Khattab stated, through a post on the “X” platform, that “the attempts of some outlaws do not stop, from the remnants of the former regime and its militias to ISIS and its gangs, aiming to tamper with the security and stability of the region, from the mountains of the coast to the plains of the eastern region with its three governorates.”
He added: “We will continue to raid the hideouts of ISIS and pursue its remnants, as well as to pursue the remnants of the defunct, criminal regime, and we will not stop confronting any threat targeting the security of our homeland and our people throughout our beloved country.”
The Minister of the Interior indicated that ISIS is trying, as he put it, to target what he described as “the successes of the Syrian state” in the eastern region, by exploiting young people who have been deceived, especially after the feeling of relief expressed by the residents with the return of security and stability to those areas.
Khattab stressed that members of the Ministry of Interior “continue to closely monitor all activities that threaten stability, and are proving day after day that they are the nation’s shield and its safety valve, sacrificing what is precious and valuable so that people can live safe and reassured.”
In another post, the minister explained that attempts to tamper with security extend “from the mountains of the northern coast to the plains of the eastern region in its three governorates,” stressing that outlaw parties, whether remnants of the former regime or ISIS, will not succeed in achieving their goals.
For his part, the official spokesman for the Syrian Ministry of Interior, Nour al-Din al-Baba, said that the security services had recently carried out several operations in Raqqa and Deir ez-Zor, targeting cells affiliated with ISIS that had carried out some operations against the security forces.
The Pope stated that some of these networks continued to engage in violence and opened channels of communication with external parties, noting that “today’s operation will yield positive results in the Sahel, in terms of enhancing safety and returning normal life.”
He also pointed out that the hotspots that posed the real danger were using weapons dating back to the period of the former regime, stressing that the armed cells are living in a state of despair, and that a large part of them have begun to ask to settle their situation with the Syrian state.
These developments come in the context of official Syrian efforts to establish security stability in various regions, especially in the east and the coast, after years of instability, with a continued government emphasis on continuing security operations to prevent any attempt to destabilize security or revive chaos.
