The German Foreign Ministry warned its citizens in Israel and Lebanon of the need to exercise caution, given the increasing possibility of the United States launching an attack on Iran, and the negative effects that this attack may have on security in countries of the region.
This German warning was issued in light of the escalation of tension in the region, and growing fears of a deterioration of the situation and its slide into a military conflict that may extend to include other regions outside Iran, and particularly affect sensitive regional areas, especially in the eastern Mediterranean.
This position comes at a time when relations between Washington and Tehran are witnessing a significant escalation due to the Iranian nuclear file, amid evidence indicating an increase in the US military presence in the region, and Iranian warnings of strong reactions in the event of any attack.
Many European capitals express their concern that any direct escalation may lead to a widening of tensions, threatening regional stability and placing neighboring countries, led by Israel and Lebanon, facing additional security challenges at this delicate stage.
