Google announced a new update to its well-known browser, Chrome, which includes a set of expected features, aiming to enhance productivity and facilitate the use of the browser.

These improvements include a split-screen feature and PDF annotation tools, in addition to the ability to save files directly to Google Drive. The most important feature in this update is the split screen feature, which enables users to display two pages or tabs side by side in one window.

This feature helps reduce switching between multiple tabs, making it easier to work on more than one page at the same time, such as watching a video while taking notes or comparing the content of two different sites.

The split screen feature can be activated by right-clicking on a tab and choosing “Open Link in Split View,” or via a dedicated icon in the browser toolbar that appears next to the address bar.

The new update also allows you to adjust the size of each part of the screen by dragging the separator between them. Chrome also added new tools for working with PDF files directly within the browser.

Previously, users needed to upload PDF files and then open them in external applications for editing or signing.

Now, they can highlight text, add notes, or even sign documents without the need for additional software.

These tools appear when you open a PDF file inside Chrome through a new icon that resembles a squiggly line. It opens a tools panel that allows you to change the pen size and color, and add comments with ease.

This step is a major development in the experience of working on documents directly without relying on external applications. Another practical feature in the new update is the “Save to Google Drive” feature, which allows users to save PDF files directly to Google Drive without having to download them to the device and then upload them manually.

The Drive icon appears in the PDF toolbar in Chrome, from which you can choose the account and folder where you want to save the file. This option contributes to simplifying the process of organizing and saving files, and makes it easy to access them across the various devices linked to the user account.

These features come at a time when Chrome is seeing increasing competition from other browsers that offer more integrated work and productivity experiences.

These additions demonstrate Google’s desire to maintain its browser leadership by integrating useful tools within the browser’s working environment itself, rather than relying on external applications.
