Arbitration analyst “Samir Othman” revealed a surprising opinion regarding the Al-Ittihad team’s deserving of a penalty kick in its match against Al-Hilal, which ended in a positive draw with one goal for each team, in the twenty-third round of the Saudi Roshan League.

With this result, Al-Hilal’s score reached 54 points, occupying second place in the ranking table, one point behind Al-Nasr, the leader, while Al-Ittihad raised its score to 38 points, occupying sixth place.

The match witnessed a strong start from Al Hilal, with Brazilian Malcolm scoring the lead goal in the fifth minute, before the match saw Al-Ittihad player Hassan Kadish sent off in the ninth minute.

In the second half, Algerian player Houssem Aouar was able to score the equalizer for Al-Ittihad via a header in the 53rd minute.

The match was led by a Spanish refereeing team led by referee Ricardo de Burgos, while Cesar Soto was responsible for video technology.

In television statements, “Samir Othman” stated that Al-Ittihad deserved to get a penalty kick in the 65th minute, after its striker Youssef Al-Nusairi was obstructed and reckless by Al-Hilal defender Hassan Timbukti.

He explained: “Al-Nusairi had a better chance to shoot, but being hit made him unable to continue playing normally. Therefore, a penalty kick should have been awarded, and Timbukti deserved a second warning and expulsion. I do not understand why video technology did not intervene, especially since the shot was replayed after four minutes.”

This shot sparked widespread controversy after the end of the match, due to its potential impact on the competition for the top spot in the Saudi Football League. (Erm News)
