In light of the successive revelations of modern Israeli methods of recruitment, the case of the arrest of the young man Ahmed Mukhdar from the southern town of Ansar on charges of collaborating with the enemy has reopened the labor file with its dangerous security and social dimensions. The story began with an online connection, and developed into direct meetings and field missions, turning into a shock within the town.

Southern sources revealed that Ahmed Mukhdar, 27 years old, born and resident of the town of Ansar, has one brother who lives in Italy and works in the field of surveying engineering. But this apparent action was hiding, according to investigations, another, more dangerous path.

The information showed that Mukhdar was initially recruited through so-called “digital recruitment,” as happened in previous similar cases. But what is strange about his case is that his dealings were not limited to communicating via the Internet, but rather later developed into direct meetings with members of the Mossad.

Investigations showed that Mukhdar was “receiving letters asking him to travel to meet his employers in European capitals, most notably Berlin and Rome, which raised the suspicions of those around him, especially in light of his difficult financial situation. When he was asked about the reason for his frequent travel, he justified it by trying to find a job opportunity alongside his brother in Italy.”

The most dangerous thing is his repeated entry into Israel and his holding direct meetings in Tel Aviv, which is an extremely dangerous development from a security standpoint.

Investigations show that among the most important tasks requested of him was what is known as “target confirmation,” as his role was not limited to providing his operators with names and places classified as targets, but rather, after carrying out the attacks, he was asked to return to photograph the targeted sites and show the extent of the destruction, in missions that were repeated during the 33-day war.

According to investigations, Makhdar received about 6,000 euros in financial payments for these tasks, but this small amount was enough to completely destroy his image and spark public anger and social ostracism against him.

After the case was revealed, Mukhdar’s family quickly issued a statement declaring their complete innocence of him, stressing that what he did was a dangerous, condemnable and completely unacceptable act. The statement stated that the family, known for its national history and values, disavows God and the nation of this behavior that harms the people of the town and the nation, calling on the competent judiciary to impose the harshest penalties against him to serve as an example to everyone who dares to commit such crimes.

The family also announced that it will take the status of personal prosecution before the competent judicial authorities, and will follow up on the case until the final rulings are issued, stressing its concern for the reputation of the town and the protection of the homeland.

For its part, the Ansar Municipality issued a statement expressing its deep concern regarding the issue of drug arrest, stressing its categorical rejection of any form of dealing or communication with Israel under any circumstances. The municipality confirmed that what was attributed to the detainee “represents no one but himself,” and has no connection to the town’s people, families, or national history.

The municipality indicated that Ansar will remain committed to its national principles, rejecting any attempt to undermine its reputation or the sacrifices of its people, declaring its full solidarity with the families of the martyrs and wounded who were affected by the recent attacks. It also called for leaving the case in the custody of the competent Lebanese judiciary, as it is the only body authorized to issue rulings and determine responsibilities in accordance with legal principles.

The Ansar Municipality concluded its statement by emphasizing the unity of the town with its people, its concern for its security and stability, and its appreciation for the clear position expressed by the detainee’s family, considering that it reflects a collective keenness to protect Ansar’s reputation and reject any action that harms it.
