Farid Zainoun, head of the Syndicate of Workers and Distributors in the Gas Sector in Lebanon, called on the owners of gas filling plants in Lebanon, who number approximately 160, to “fully commit to not filling gas bottles except for approved distributors who are officially registered with the two unions, exclusively after presenting a valid statement issued by the relevant union, which is given free of charge and does not entail any financial compensation.”
He explained in a statement that “the aim of this measure is to control the local market, regulate distribution, stop the black market, and prevent illegal filling, in addition to adhering to the official pricing issued by the Ministry of Energy and Water, adopting a unified price by all distributors, and not filling any illegal tank, truck, or container that does not meet the technical and administrative conditions,” stressing that “this measure aims to regulate the gas distribution sector in Lebanon, put an end to arbitrary prices, protect citizens from exploitation, and maintain public safety.”
“Zenon” concluded his speech by saying that “our call to bottling plants is to reduce the chaos occurring in the gas market, the spread of the black market, and price manipulation, and out of concern for public safety and consumer protection,” holding “full responsibility for any factory that violates this circular,” and stressing that “the necessary legal measures will be taken against violators.”
