Representative Ashraf Rifi issued a statement in which he expressed his gratitude to the President of the Republic, Joseph Aoun, for his interest in the Tripoli file. He also thanked Prime Minister Nawaf Salam, who prepared a government plan aimed at sheltering those affected and evacuating buildings at risk. He also thanked the Minister of Interior and the Lebanese Army for their efforts in maintaining security and stability.

Rifi expressed his gratitude to everyone who contributed to saving the people from this sad disaster, and he specifically mentioned the “Lebanese Civil Defense”, the “Lebanese Red Cross”, “Caritas”, and the “Ambulance and Emergency Authority”.

Rifi affirmed: “I will follow this file until the end, and I will not back down from my responsibilities, until we ensure the safety of our people, hold those who are negligent accountable, prevent the recurrence of the tragedy, preserve the dignity of Tripoli and its people, and transform promises into quick and fair field actions that protect citizens, restore confidence in the state, and prevent any new future recklessness.”

Rifi’s statement comes in light of the ongoing official moves to address the effects of the collapsed buildings disaster in Tripoli. The President of the Republic had received at Baabda Palace the Mayor of Tripoli and a delegation from the city, in a meeting that specifically dealt with the file of dangerous buildings, against the backdrop of the repercussions of the Tabbaneh disaster, which strongly re-shed light on this issue.
