Pakistani Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif on Monday announced an ambitious plan to invest one billion US dollars in the field of artificial intelligence by 2030. This initiative aims to establish an integrated national infrastructure for artificial intelligence, stressing Pakistan’s readiness to fully engage in the coming technological revolution.

According to what was reported by the Pakistani “Geo” channel, Sharif made these statements during the opening ceremony of “Artificial Intelligence Week 2026,” which witnessed the presence of high-level ministers and delegations from various countries, including the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, Turkey, and others.

Sharif stressed that: “The government of Pakistan is committed to investing one billion dollars in artificial intelligence by 2030, which will contribute significantly to building an ecosystem based on artificial intelligence in our country.”

The Prime Minister added that efforts to spread artificial intelligence will focus in particular on vital sectors such as agriculture, mining, and minerals, in addition to empowering Pakistani youth.

Sharif also drew attention to the fact that Pakistan, with a population of about 240 million people, includes a large segment of young people representing about 60% of the population, stressing the need to provide them with knowledge and modern technologies. (Arabic)
