The Ayatollah sits with the Great Satan

February 6 is associated with more than one station in Lebanon’s modern history. In 1984, what was called an “uprising” occurred within the army, which was a division that proved, at the time, that the sect is often stronger than the nation. In 2006, the first Christian leader at the time sat with the first Shiite leader in a church hall to sign an agreement, of which only ink and paper remained. On February 6, 2026, the beginning of a path that may end in war or a historic agreement.

Today, in the Sultanate of Oman, the US-Iranian negotiations begin, in light of major differences in positions that threaten not to reach a solution, even though all possibilities remain open. The Lebanese are anticipating these negotiations, especially since their results will be reflected on them, as Hezbollah and its weapons are one of the cards that the Iranian holds and negotiates over, and the negotiations may end with him giving them up.
On the other hand, in Lebanon, we are witnessing fierce leaders challenging Donald Trump and making you feel, with permission from Nasser Qandil, that they are capable of storming the White House on motorcycles, and they are ready to support Tehran with the same momentum with which they supported Gaza, so we ended with occupation, captivity, destruction, and… a declaration of victory.
These passionate, and sometimes empty, heads ignore the fact that their Supreme Leader, the Ayatollah, has agreed to sit with what he calls “the Great Satan,” and he realizes that he has two choices that have no third: either he will agree to Donald Trump’s demands, or he will enter into a war from which he will certainly not emerge victorious.
It is a new retreat from Iran, just as Hezbollah retreated from its decision not to remain neutral in the event of a war launched against Iran, as its Secretary-General had previously announced, before Representative Muhammad Raad informed the President of the Republic of the opposite. Just like Hezbollah rejected the Council of Ministers’ decision regarding arms exclusivity, then submitted to it, and just like Hezbollah refused to negotiate with Israel through a civilian figure and then ignored it…

Far from falling off the tree of positions, Western diplomatic sources rule out reaching an American-Iranian agreement, but the negotiation process will continue, according to estimates, until the end of next week, and if it does not reach a happy ending, this will mean the start of the countdown to the war, starting in the middle of this month, because Trump will not resume his military buildup without achieving his goals, politically or militarily.
