On Thursday, the General Directorate of Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances Affairs in Iraq announced the dismantling of an international network involved in the drug trade operating within Syrian territory, in the context of joint security cooperation aimed at combating crimes that cross borders.
The Directorate explained in an official statement that “within security and international cooperation,” the General Directorate for Narcotics and Psychotropic Substances Affairs, in coordination with the Anti-Narcotics Administration in the Syrian Arab Republic, implemented a specialized security operation inside Syrian territory.
The directorate added that this operation “resulted in the arrest of two international drug dealers, and the seizure of 300,000 pills, equivalent to 50 kilograms of narcotic substances.”
The Directorate also stated that this operation was “carried out after one of its detachments moved to Syrian territory,” stressing that the operation “was crowned with complete success.”
