During a tribute lunch held by Ali Mahmoud Al-Abdullah, Chairman of the “Amaco” Group, at the “Phenicia” Hotel to celebrate the appointment of Adel Al-Shabab as Director General of the Ministry of Industry, Minister of Industry Joe Issa Al-Khoury stated that Lebanese industrialists are “the real resistance fighters” due to their steadfastness in the face of difficulties and their raising the name of Lebanon high with their distinguished production. This ceremony was attended by a number of political, industrial, economic and media figures.
Minister Issa Al-Khoury expressed his pride in the quality of Lebanese industry, citing the merger deal between the Lebanese “Multi Line” company and the international “Terra Dyne” company with investments amounting to about $200 million, and stressed that Lebanon exports advanced technology to the United States.
Regarding the appointment of the new Director General, the Minister explained that Adel Al-Shabab was chosen due to his administrative competence, integrity, and integrated work plan, stressing that the role of public administration must be an incentive for the private sector and not an obstacle to it.
For his part, President of the Industrialists Association, Salim Al-Zaani, thanked Minister Issa Al-Khoury for his new style of public service, considering that industry is “Lebanon’s identity” and the basic pillar of the economy thanks to the industrialists’ adherence to their homeland. He stressed that the industrial sector no longer feels ashamed, but rather is proud of its superiority and ability to withstand and compete globally.
In turn, the new Director General, Adel Al-Shabab, considered his appointment as a “national secretariat” at this critical stage, stressing his commitment to institutional work based on integrity. He called for establishing a true partnership with industrialists based on dialogue and transparency to protect national production and facilitate procedures, noting that the strength of industry is the strength of the entire country.
In conclusion, Ali Al-Abdullah described the industrial sector as the “miracle sector” that Lebanon relies on in times of crisis. He pointed out that industrialists were able to export their production to more than 100 countries despite the financial collapse and loss of deposits, calling for a focus on industry to achieve food, pharmaceutical and economic security as a basic pillar of the national recovery process.
