Egyptian President Abdel Fattah El-Sisi responded firmly to the allegations of Israeli Finance Minister Bezalel Smotrich regarding the Sinai Peninsula, stressing that Egypt has regained all of its lands, and that its political doctrine is based on protecting its security and borders without any regional ambitions towards any party.
Al-Sisi’s statements came during the educational symposium for the Egyptian Armed Forces, which was held today, Wednesday, to commemorate the victory of the October 1973 War, in response to Smotrich’s claims that Egypt is refraining from attacking Israel for fear of a return to the occupation of Sinai.
In his response, the Egyptian President explained that his country “fought a war to defend its land and regain it completely,” wondering what the unjustified perceptions and concerns that prevail among some circles in Israel regarding the existence of alleged Egyptian ambitions.
Al-Sisi stressed that the primary goal of the Egyptian state is to maintain its security and stability and protect the capabilities of its people, denying the existence of any hidden agendas, stressing that protecting borders and national security are managed within the framework of adherence to peace and stability, and pointing out in the same context that the peace treaty signed between Egypt and Israel is the governing framework for bilateral relations.
In a context related to the Palestinian issue, the Egyptian President renewed his country’s firm position regarding the necessity of implementing the two-state solution, considering it the only way to bring about a just and lasting peace in the region, and a strategic goal of “establishing a respectable Palestinian state and a respectable Israeli state” to ensure the stability of future generations.
