Al-Sisi confirms the link between Gulf security and Egypt and the readiness to take action to protect it

Egyptian President Abdel Fattah El-Sisi affirmed his country’s full readiness to take urgent action with the aim of reducing the escalation in the Gulf region and restoring stability to it, stressing that the security of the Arab Gulf states is an integral part of Egyptian national security, and that Cairo is prepared to do whatever is necessary to secure shipping traffic and support regional stability.

Sisi’s statements came during his speech at the 44th educational symposium of the Egyptian Armed Forces, which was held under the title “Homeland of Heroes” to celebrate the 53rd anniversary of the October victories, according to a statement issued by the Egyptian presidency.

Regarding the Israeli issue, the Egyptian President made it clear that the peace treaty represents the governing framework for bilateral relations, stressing that his country does not have any “hidden agendas” or ambitions towards any party, and places the protection of its borders and national security at the top of its priorities. This position came in response to statements made by an Israeli official regarding the Sinai Peninsula, where Sisi reminded that Egypt fought the war in defense of its national territory and was able to regain all of its territory. He also renewed Cairo’s adherence to the two-state solution as the only realistic way to achieve a just and lasting peace, leading to the establishment of “a respectable Palestinian state and a respectable Israeli state.”

On the internal level, President Sisi stressed that the Egyptian constitution “will not be touched by anyone,” warning of the danger of misinformation campaigns and attempts to falsify awareness and stir up public opinion with the aim of destabilizing the country. He called on citizens to protect their state, saying: “Fortify your country against this conspiracy… I am not saying fortify the president,” stressing that confronting the current challenges is a solidarity responsibility between the state and society.

He also pointed out the importance of work and patience in facing economic challenges, and moving forward with the implementation of the economic reform program, while giving the highest priority to preserving the state’s entity and the continued work of its institutions in light of rapid regional developments.
