Defense and British meeting in Yarzeh: following up on the security situation and supporting the army
The Minister of National Defense, Major General Michel Mansi, received in his office in Yarzeh, the Senior Advisor to the British Ministry of Defense for Middle Eastern Affairs, Admiral Edward Al Green, the British Ambassador to Lebanon, Himesh Cowell, and the accompanying delegation. During the meeting, the latest developments in the region and their repercussions on the situation in Lebanon were presented, especially after the signing of the document ending the war in the Gaza Strip.
The research touched on the implementation of the army’s plan to confine weapons to the legitimate authority and the stages of its implementation, the process of army deployment in accordance with Resolution 1701, and the potential challenges after the end of the missions of the UNIFIL land and naval force in Lebanon at the end of 2026.
Admiral Al Green confirmed Britain’s continued support for the army, especially in establishing towers and observation centers on the land borders.
Mansi also received a delegation from the families of the martyrs of the Battle of Abra, who demanded justice for their sons. The minister reassured them and affirmed his confidence in the transparency of the decisions issued by the military court and its commitment to justice.
The Minister also met with the Dean of the Faculty of Political Science and International Relations at Al-Hikmah University, Professor Antonius Abu Kasem. During the meeting, academic affairs were discussed and relations between educational and military institutions were strengthened.
