An unprecedented achievement: the first Saudi player to break into the Champions League

Saudi player Saud Abdul Hamid recorded his name in the pages of history in Saudi football, after he became the first Saudi player to participate in the Champions League competitions, after he entered the starting lineup for his French team, Lens, in its confrontation with Sporting Lisbon of Portugal, on Tuesday evening, in the second round of the league stage.

Abdel Hamid (27 years old) participated in the right-back position, marking a new milestone in his professional career in European stadiums, which included a previous stop with Italian club Roma before moving to Lens.

The player missed his team’s first match against Serbian Red Star due to an injury that hindered his continuity since the start of the current season.

It is noteworthy that Abdel Hamid played 33 matches for Lens in various tournaments, during which he scored 4 goals and 8 assists, directing his efforts in this historic first appearance in the prestigious European competition.
