Portuguese star Cristiano Ronaldo faces potential penalties according to Portuguese Football Federation regulations, which stipulate that leaving the national team camp without permission requires a suspension for a period ranging from one match to six matches, in addition to a fine ranging between 500 and 1,000 euros.
These developments came against the backdrop of Ronaldo’s departure from the national team camp after remaining on the bench during the match against Norway in the European Nations League competitions, a decision that sparked widespread controversy regarding the nature of the relationship between the player and the technical staff and his future within the ranks of the national team.
In the same context, coach Jorge Jesus confirmed that he is not obligated to include Ronaldo in the matches, despite the player’s request to participate in the warm-up, stressing that the decision to field any player remains subject exclusively to his technical vision.
At the fan level, the results of an opinion poll conducted by the Portuguese website “Apola” regarding Ronaldo’s future with the national team revealed that more than 70% of participants do not support the player’s return to represent the national team in the coming period.
