Al-Sayegh rules out sliding towards escalation and pins hopes on the army institution

Representative Salim Al-Sayegh ruled out the possibility of Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu exploiting the election period to escalate military operations in Lebanon, suggesting that the next stage will enter into what he described as “wasted time” in the absence of any serious political initiatives.

In a post he wrote on the “X” platform, Al-Sayegh considered that the coming interim period would be characterized by political stagnation and waiting, devoid of any decisive movements, stressing the necessity of investing this time and not wasting it by working to strengthen the capabilities of the Lebanese army and empowering it, as it is the “reference that guarantees all.”

Al-Sayegh’s statements gain great importance in light of widespread anticipation of the extent of the impact of Israeli political entitlements on the southern front in Lebanon, amid fears of field fluctuations or stagnation in the diplomatic track. These positions also re-shed light on the issue of support for the military establishment, in line with repeated calls locally and internationally to strengthen the role of the army as a basic pillar for maintaining stability and consecrating state sovereignty.
