On Thursday, October 8, 2026, the Saudi General Authority of Civil Aviation announced that King Khalid International Airport and a Saudi Airlines plane were subjected to two double attacks, which resulted in the death of three Saudi citizens and the injury of a number of other citizens and residents of different nationalities.
The authority stated in an official statement that the first attack targeted the facilities of King Khalid International Airport, while the second attack targeted an aircraft belonging to the national carrier (Saudi Airlines), which led to scattered material damage in both locations.
The authority confirmed that the emergency teams and competent authorities attended the sites of the two accidents immediately after they occurred, and they were dealt with according to the approved plans and procedures, noting that the injured – whose injuries ranged from minor to severe – were transferred to hospitals to receive the necessary medical care.
The authority concluded by emphasizing the continuation of integrated coordination with the relevant security authorities to assess the damage and take all measures to ensure the security and safety of travelers, workers and the civil aviation system in the Kingdom, while announcing the resumption of operational operations at the airport and the return of air traffic to normal.
