Cancellation of daylight saving time: When clocks are set and set back by 60 minutes

Lebanon is preparing to return to winter time in late October 2026, according to a memorandum issued by the Presidency of the Council of Ministers that specified the end date for daylight saving time.

The General Secretariat of the Council of Ministers called for delaying the clock by 60 minutes, starting at midnight on Saturday – Sunday, October 24 and 25, 2026, thus officially returning to winter time in various parts of the country.

This measure comes in implementation of Cabinet Resolution No. 5 issued on August 20, 1998, which regulates the mechanism of advancing local time by one hour during the summer, starting from late March until late October of each year.

In the same context, the General Secretariat circulated the official memorandum to all public departments and institutions, municipalities, departments, and concerned bodies, in preparation for adopting the new timing and ensuring regular work in the official sectors and various facilities.
