Rehabilitation of a vital road near the Qaraoun Dam, returning it to the service front

Maintenance and rehabilitation work continues on the vital road adjacent to the Qaraoun Dam, which connects the town of Mashghara to the towns of Western Bekaa, in order to address the damage caused by the Israeli attacks during the recent war on Lebanon, and to ensure the safety of traffic on this main axis.

The Ministry of Public Works and Transport is implementing these works through the contractor, “Al-Raed Engineering and Contracting Establishment.” The projects include rehabilitating damaged sections, constructing water bridges under the road, in addition to constructing support walls, backfilling, and re-paving the damaged sections.

As part of keeping up with the progress of work, the Regional Director of the Ministry of Public Works and Transport in the Bekaa, Engineer Walid Al-Hajjar, conducted a field tour accompanied by a team of Ministry employees, and in the presence and participation of engineers from the National Litani River Authority, to see the sites of damage and ongoing work.

The tour aimed to evaluate the implementation stages and verify the extent of compliance with the approved technical principles and specifications, in preparation for the return of the road to its safe and sound condition, and to ensure the smooth flow of traffic between Mashghara and the towns of Western Bekaa, especially in the sector parallel to the Qaraoun Dam, in a way that meets public safety conditions.
