A stray bullet turns a young man's life into hell: the family is under threat and the sister wonders why the perpetrator got away

The Syrian young man, Ahmed Mohieddin Nasr, escaped certain death after being shot in the left leg in the Al-Jnah area. He and his family then faced a series of continuous threats, as the perpetrator remained at large without arrest, despite the filing of an official complaint against him.

In the details of the incident, which were narrated by his sister, Nour al-Huda Mohieddin Nasr, the dispute goes back to about a month before the incident, when the young man Ahmed decided to stay away from his Lebanese friend Muhammad Fadi Atwi out of concern for his family, as a result of his “black record with the Lebanese state” and his accusation of drug use and theft.

As a result of this decision, Atwi, on Saturday, September 5th, around eight o’clock in the evening, intercepted Ahmed on the sea line in the Al-Janaah area near the gas station, and fired five bullets at him, one of which settled in his left leg and pierced the other side, before he was quickly transferred to the Rafik Hariri Governmental Hospital to save his life.

Nasr pointed out that there were surveillance cameras that documented the details of the crime and identified the shooter, confirming that the family went to the police station and filed an official complaint after receiving inquiring calls, denouncing at the same time that the accused remained at large despite knowing his identity.

The family’s suffering was not limited to the injury, but extended to include continuous threats against Ahmed, threatening to target him again, in addition to provocative practices that targeted his sister, Nour Al-Huda, at her workplace, in addition to threatening one of Ahmed’s friends for accompanying him. The family confirmed that the accused is still walking around with his weapon in the area, which doubles their state of fear and panic.

Nour Al-Huda concluded by stressing that her brother Ahmed’s health condition has stabilized, but he suffers from psychological trauma, depression, and constant anxiety for the safety of his family. She called on the competent security and judicial agencies to intervene immediately to arrest the perpetrator and protect the family from any possible attack.
