In conjunction with the celebration of World Teachers’ Day, the Public Basic Education Association transformed the occasion from a symbolic station into a platform for a decisive demanding position, stressing that true celebration of teachers begins with fairness to them financially and professionally, away from constructive slogans.
The association congratulated the educational body, describing teachers as those with a lofty message and a high degree of knowledge that is a trust for building the future, stressing in a statement issued on the occasion that the teacher goes beyond the role of knowledge transmitter to play the role of educator, role model, and human maker, as an essential partner in building the nation and a guardian of the future of its generations.
The association stressed that preserving the teacher’s dignity and respect requires ensuring living and professional conditions worthy of his sacrifices, stressing that the teacher “is not just a number or an employee who performs specific work hours.” She announced that the most prominent demand for the next stage is the approval of a new and fair series of ranks and salaries, stressing that the movement will continue until these rights are fully obtained, as it is the “true holiday” for the teacher.
The Association concluded its statement by paying tribute to the souls of the martyrs of education, and to all teachers with their various names, especially those who are steadfast in the face of the accumulated challenges and difficult circumstances, at a time when the formal educational sector continues to suffer as a result of the ongoing living crisis and the decline in the actual value of salaries and benefits.
