Argentine star Lionel Messi is preparing to wear an exceptional tribute shirt in his final international match on Argentine soil, which brings together the “Tango Dancers” team with its Beninese counterpart on October 6th.
The new shirt retains the national team’s traditional design in sky and white, with golden details including Messi’s name, the number 10, and the Argentine Football Association logo. The design also includes a special logo in which the number 10 appears surrounded by a wreath to symbolize the player’s accomplished career, in addition to the phrase: “One last match… a shirt for a lifetime,” documenting his last appearance in an Argentina shirt.
Messi had previously announced that facing Benin would be his last international stop, after a busy career during which he played 207 international matches and scored 125 goals, during which he led his country to win the 2022 World Cup title, in addition to two Copa America titles. The match is expected to witness a huge celebration to honor the national team captain and commemorate the end of his international career.
