The Lebanese Tobacco and Tobacco Inventory Administration (Regie) announced, in a statement, the start of the process of purchasing tobacco and tobacco crops from farmers in the northern regions.
The administration explained that the process of receiving crops takes place through three centers affiliated with the Tripoli Foundation, and it is expected to take about a month and a half to complete it completely.
In this context, the head of the Agriculture and Purchasing Department in the North, Dr. Muhammad Kabbara, confirmed that the first day of the purchasing season recorded satisfactory results among farmers. He attributed this satisfaction to the administration’s increase in prices by a fair percentage, and the provision of acceptable financial assistance for each kilogram, in addition to raising the transportation allowance for each bale, taking into account the burdens resulting from the wave of high prices.
Kabbara added that these steps came under the guidance of the President of the Regie and its Director General, Eng. Nassif Saqlawi, stressing the administration’s continued keenness to support and assist farmers as essential partners in the path of sustainable rural development.
The Regie concluded its statement by noting that farmers expressed their satisfaction with the regularity of the crop delivery process and the prices approved for their purchase.
