Member of the “Loyalty to the Resistance” bloc, MP Hassan Fadlallah, shed light on the scenes of the delicate phase that followed the martyrdom of Hezbollah Secretary General, Sayyed Hassan Nasrallah, highlighting the pivotal leadership role played by Sayyed Hashem Safi al-Din during that difficult period.
In a special interview on “Al-Mayadeen” channel on the second anniversary of the martyrdom of Sayyed Safi al-Din, Fadlallah pointed to the bright correlation in biography, approach and thought between the deceased, recalling Safi al-Din’s response to Sayyed Nasrallah’s call to interrupt his religious studies in the Iranian city of Qom to return to Lebanon and his direct involvement in organizational work and the combat fronts in the south.
The Lebanese MP stated that Hezbollah has one leadership and a unified methodology that is inherited by multiple generations, explaining that Sayyed Safi al-Din took the initiative, immediately after the martyrdom of Sayyed Nasrallah, to assume leadership of the field work and manage the transitional phase, which he described as the “pivotal” five days in the party’s history, stressing that the resistance continued its field presence thanks to his management, despite the abundance of air raids.
Fadlallah revealed that Safi al-Din took quick decisions to fill the leadership vacancy by appointing replacements for the martyred leaders in the military structure and other fields, to ensure continuity of institutional and field work.
Fadlallah concluded by stressing that the assassination of Messrs. Nasrallah and Safi al-Din constituted an “earthquake” that shook the party, but he stressed that this momentous event did not bring down the organizational structure, reiterating the pledge to move forward with strength and stability based on the commandments of the martyrs.
