Artificial intelligence allows you to try on clothes virtually before completing the purchase

The company “OpenAI” announced the expansion of the range of shopping tools within its smart assistant, “ChatGPT”, by launching a new feature called “Virtual Try On”, which allows users to try on clothes virtually before completing the purchase process.

The new feature works when browsing clothing products within the chat, where the user can select the item and click on the “Try on” option, followed by uploading a personal photo and another full body photo, after which “ChatGPT” generates an image that mimics the user’s appearance while wearing the desired product. This experience is not limited only to the products proposed within the platform, but extends to the possibility of uploading a screenshot of any piece of clothing from outside it and using it to generate a similar experimental image.

In generating these images, “OpenAI” relies on the “ChatGPT Images 2.5” model, which was launched last September, in a move aimed at linking image generation techniques directly to the digital shopping experience.

In the same context, the company added the “Library” feature, which enables users to save products that interest them for easy reference later, without the need to search for them again in the chat history.

Regarding the privacy aspect, OpenAI urged users to review data usage settings when uploading their personal photos, as the possibility of using content to improve models is linked to the type of account and settings activated by each user.

These updates come as an extension of the company’s continuous endeavor to expand shopping services via “ChatGPT”, to include the entire consumer journey. From discovering and comparing products, to evaluating options virtually, to making a purchasing decision.
