Raids and seizures: Lebanese Customs reveals details of a shipment of smuggled medicines

The General Directorate of Customs announced that the Smuggling Investigation Division was able, following an intensive monitoring and surveillance operation in the Antelias region, to seize a quantity of smuggled medicines and cosmetic injections.

The Directorate explained in a statement that by tracking the path and source of the seized items, the Division succeeded in identifying the storage location of additional quantities. Based on a signal from the competent judiciary, a force from the division raided a residential apartment in the Matn area, where a large quantity of smuggled injections and cosmetics was found. She indicated that those involved with the seized items were taken to the center to complete legal procedures and investigations under the supervision of the competent judiciary.

The Directorate pointed out that investigations proved that smugglers resorted to advanced camouflage methods, including exploiting residential apartments, company headquarters, and commercial centers to hide the goods and store them out of sight in preparation for distributing them in the markets.

She stressed that efforts to pursue smuggling are not limited to seizing goods only, but also include tracking their sources, methods of entry, and distribution routes, leading to dismantling the networks involved and arresting their members.

In the same context, the Directorate renewed its call on citizens to cooperate and report any sites, apartments, and warehouses suspected of being used to store or distribute smuggled goods, in preparation for taking the necessary legal measures against violators.

The Directorate concluded by emphasizing that protecting the health security of citizens begins with preventing the access of materials of unknown origin to the markets, considering that blocking the road between the warehouse and the market represents the first line of defense for the safety of society.
